Skills For the Digital Transformation of Health and Care System

The event, the first one being officially featured in THCS’ Knowledge Hub, showcased how the TSI instrument can benefit Member States to transform their health and care systems

Skills For the Digital Transformation of Health and Care System

The final dissemination event of the project “Digital Skills to Increase Quality and Resilience of The Health System In Italy" took place in Rome on May 30th at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Health. This event showcased the outcomes of the Technical Support Instrument project, funded by DG REFORM, which aimed to enhance the digital skills of healthcare workers to improve the quality of care provided.

The Technical Support Instrument (TSI) is an EU program offering bespoke technical expertise to Member States for reform implementation. It covers various areas such as climate action, digital transition, and health, without requiring co-financing. This support can be in the form of advice, studies, training sessions, or expert visits, tailored to different administrative levels.

The Italian project “Digital skills to increase the quality and resilience of the health system in Italy” ran from November 2022 to February 2024 with a budget of €371,400. It aimed at establishing a national digital skills strategy and providing operational guidelines to support regional and autonomous provinces in the uptaking of the Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs).

Given the potential interest of other MS in transferring the project, the event has been featured in THCS's Knowledge Hub, which aims to become a repository of all European good practices for promoting the transformation of health and care systems

Silvia Pozzato and Andrea Pavlickova from THCS presented the Knowledge Hub and outlined the collaborative efforts towards knowledge-sharing and capacity-building within the partnership.

THCS Partnership wants to support Public Authorities in the pathway towards the use of the Technical Support Instrument. The final goal is to raise awareness on how the TSI instrument can benefit Member States to transform their health and care systems, making this experience potentially replicable in other countries.
